Environment protection through Inter Municipal Cooperation

In partnership with the Ministry of Local Self Government, UNDP carries out the national “Programme for better service provision and EU accession” which works on further creation of conditions for broader utilization of the inter municipal cooperation as an instrument for better quality of the public services’ provision at local level.

The UNDP Programme aspires the inter municipal cooperation to become useful instrument in the area of environmental protection as well, respecting the ongoing conditions and needs of the local self government units. With aim to ensure better development of projects for IMC, UNDP organized a workshop for inter municipal cooperation in the area of environmental protection that took place on June 2, 2010 in Hotel Continental in Skopje.

The objective of the workshop was together and though joint discussions to identify the priority needs in the environment protection and also to reach the possible solutions through the inter municipal cooperation. Mayors and Civil Servants from the eight planning regions were invited and took part on this workshop, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Environment Protection and Physical Planning and the Ministry of Local Self Government.
