Thematic workshops “International Co-operations in the Area of Social Protection “ UNDP’s programme, aspires the Inter Municipal Cooperation to become a useful instrument in the area of social protection, with respect for the ongoing situation and needs of the self government units. For that aim, UNDP organized three thematic workshops “Inter Municipal Cooperation in the area of social protection“ in Gostivar on November 16, in Veles on November 24 and in Prilep on December 4, 2009. The aim of these thematic workshops was to identify, through discussions, the priority needs in the social protection and the possible solutions to satisfy those needs through the Inter Municipal Cooperation. The participants on these workshops were civil servants responsible for the social protection in the Local Government, as well as the local practitioners for Inter Municipal Cooperation from the Municipalities and the Planning Regions which incline towards the said places where the events took place. Also, representatives from the Ministry for Labor and Social Policy and the Centers for Social Welfare and the Ministry of Local Self Government took part. Altogether 63 persons from 36 municipalities took part in these workshops.
